John Dale Passes Away

I’ve just heard the very sad news that John Dale has passed away (he lost a long battle against cancer last Thursday at the very young age of 33).

For anyone who doesn’t know John, he was from the North East of England and used to come up to play West and National League in the 1990’s. He was a very nice bloke and a great player.

You can see more details about John here

COACHING COURSE

Scottish Squash are running a UKCC (more info) Level 2 Coaching Course at Newlands LT & SC. The course runs over two weekends, 20th & 21st February and 15th & 16th May. Scottish Squash provide the following course information;

This qualification is aimed at coaches who wish to:

  • Work with other coaches as a head coach & assistant coach within a club
  • Work, unsupervised, in a 1-to-1 coaching environment.

They will gain further experience of creating a safe & positive coaching environment; as well as preparing, coaching and reviewing a series of both group & individual lessons; and using appropriate progressions to develop their player(s). These skills contribute to the SQA Units ‘Plan & Prepare a Series of Squash Coaching Sessions’ and ‘Coach Participants & Develop Personal Practice: Squash’ and ensure that the course is also accredited within the SQA Credit Framework at Level 5.
