SSRL AFFILIATION

SSRL AFFILIATION

As all member clubs will be aware, at the West Squash and Racketball (WSR) AGM three years ago, WSR committed to ensure that all member clubs should be affiliated to the National Governing Body of Squash in Scotland, Scottish Squash and Racketball Ltd (SSRL). This is in addition to paying team fees to WSR.

Until now, the matter of clubs not affiliating to SSRL and playing within our leagues has been, to an extent, left to the National Governing Body to address. This situation has caused a degree of conflict between clubs in our region over the last few years in relation to running costs in clubs & the perception of an uneven playing field existing between some of our smaller member clubs & the larger clubs, i.e. those who pay the governing body fee and those who don’t.

At this year’s AGM held on 12th May 2014, following general discussion among those in attendance regarding this matter, it was agreed that full participation in the WSR leagues of 2014/2015 season will only be allowed if a club is affiliated to SSRL.

ANNUAL RETURN

For those clubs that have not had SSRL affiliation recently, this means submitting an Annual Return (giving only the names of your club members – no payment is required at this point) to SSRL by 10th September 2014. This WSR annual return date is earlier than the stated date on the SSRL annual return (31st October) for an important reason – it gives the League Secretary two weeks before the start of the WSR season to draw up the new leagues for the coming season.

A club not having met requirement will not be allowed into the WSR Leagues this coming season.

After the submission of the Annual Return, SSRL will raise an invoice for each club. Each club can then contact SSRL regarding their own timescales for payments. If anyone has any queries or comments then John Dunlop, the Chief Executive of SSRL, is more than willing to come out and visit any club that would like to discuss what SSRL can do for your club. He can be contacted on email at john.dunlop@scottishsquash.org.

However, failure to have paid both the team fees to WSR and the affiliation fees due to SSRL by the 11th March 2015 will result in defaulting clubs having all previous results declared null and void, and the club being excluded from the fixture list for the following season.

The SSRL Annual Return can be found at the following web address:

The annual  subscription fees for affiliation can be found here:

If any member club is not clear on any of the above with regard to SSRL affiliation, they should make immediate contact with the WSR committee at the earliest opportunity, in order to ensure this does not affect your clubs ability to participate this coming season.
