Why New League Software?

This season we have decided to move away from Horizon and go to ResultsZone for our league software system. To have a look at the new system just follow the leagues menu at the top of the page. The benefits of the new league software system are:

  • Excellent rankings and stats;
  • Easy to understand and navigate.

Which Team is Responsible for Entering Results?

There can only be one entry of the result and so there is another important change to the league rules. The previous league rules read:

13.1 Both teams have until 5 days to enter the scores on the Horizon website. Failure to adhere to this deadline will result in a 5 point penalty for both teams.
13.1.1 Both teams are responsible for submission of scores, not just the home team.

The above NO LONGER APPLIES. The new rule shall read:

13.1 The winning team have until 5 days to enter the scores on the league software website. Failure to adhere to this deadline will result in a 5 point penalty for the winning team.

I Enter the Results for my Club/ Team – How Do I Do This?

If you are the person that enters the results for your team/club, then please contact Stewart Hamilton, the League Secretary, on leaguesecretary@west-squash.org to get your username and password for the results entry system.

Result entry is done by logging in to the system and following the “Post Result” tab on the menu on the left.

Club Administrators will also have to register all the players for your club, so that results cards can be filled in. Please try to ensure this is done before your first match.

In the player registration system, it will ask for a player rating – please enter 3000 as a standard figure – as this will be altered at a later date.

Any feedback, positive or otherwise, will be much appreciated!

All the best for the coming season!

  1. Would it not make more sense if it was the responsibility of the home team to enter the results? Ensures an equal number of submissions for each team, and a consistent approach.

  2. Hi Andrew, Thanks for your comment.

There have been some teething problems as you put it, yes, as there will always be when a new system is implemented.

The problem lies in knowing what the initial ranking of a player should be and often it’s difficult to know how good players are in comparison to players from other clubs in terms of ranking points. So I’m spending today going through the rankings checking initial rankings.

Greg Lobban’s ranking has now been adjusted, as have several other players, although it may take a day or so for the new rankings to show up on the system. If you can spot any other anomalies, let me know and I’ll look at it.

Thanks for pointing this out, Andrew!

  3. Yes, absolutely! Any team that hasn’t entered their players yet needs to get onto it… as the winning teams can’t input results into the system!

  4. Also noticed that the Andoid app doesn’t yet allow you to select our league so wouldn’t recommend folk paying for it (£0.99) until they get ours added!

That aside, cool to have an app to let you check scores and standings…
