COACHING COURSE

Scottish Squash are running a UKCC (more info) Level 2 Coaching Course at Newlands LT & SC. The course runs over two weekends, 20th & 21st February and 15th & 16th May. Scottish Squash provide the following course information;

This qualification is aimed at coaches who wish to:

  • Work with other coaches as a head coach & assistant coach within a club
  • Work, unsupervised, in a 1-to-1 coaching environment.

Coaches undertaking this Level 2 qualification shall look at the technical & tactical requirements of squash, in the context of the game, (both for juniors & adults) at beginner and intermediate level. They will gain further experience of creating a safe & positive coaching environment; as well as preparing, coaching and reviewing a series of both group & individual lessons; and using appropriate progressions to develop their player(s). These skills contribute to the SQA Units ‘Plan & Prepare a Series of Squash Coaching Sessions’ and ‘Coach Participants & Develop Personal Practice: Squash’ and ensure that the course is also accredited within the SQA Credit Framework at Level 5.

To undertake the UKCC Level 2 you must:

  • Be a minimum age seventeen years
  • Hold a UKCC Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Squash, a UKCC Level 1 Bridging Module or an England/Wales Squash Level 1
  • Attend/show a certificate of attendance for an Equity in your Coaching Workshop and an Appointed Persons First Aid Course (min. 3 hrs)

For the cost of the course, discounts are available to members of Scottish Squash and coaches who work within member clubs of Scottish Squash.
